Gerhardt Golba passed away in June 30, 2017, in Spearfish, South Dakota, where he had re-located after retiring from the DoDDS system and Hanau High School. Gerhardt taught industrial arts at Frankfurt High and was among the faculty when the school closed its doors at the end of the 1994-95 school year. After Frankfurt, he taught for four years in Hanau, retiring in 1999.

Born in Germany, he and his mother immigrated to the States in 1952. In 1957 he was drafted into the U.S. Army where he served for 20 years, having served assignments in Korea, Viet Nam, and in the States. He returned to the States and in Nebraska earned his masters degree.

He is survived by his wife Elke and sons Matthew and William. Gerhardt is remembered by his colleagues and students as “a pleasant gentleman who was always admired and respected by all.”
