Dale Willis, 73, a nurse, daughter, sister, aunt and friend, passed away on June 29, 2017 at Laurel Meadows after a short illness. Dale was born in the Willis Gap area of Carroll County, VA. Dale was predeceased by her parents Bryant Willis and Rita Kimble Willis and her brother Cole Willis.

Dale graduated from Hillsville High School in 1961 and earned her R.N. degree from Martin Memorial School of Nursing of Mt. Airy, NC in 1964. Her nursing career began in Mt. Airy and Roanoke. Later she retired from Home Health Nursing in Carroll County, where she could be seen on the backroads in her trusty Explorer in all kinds of weather.

Dale’s hobbies included reading, gardening, and sewing. Dale and her neighbor sewed pillowcase dresses for children in Haiti, Belize and Tenn. They mailed out a total of 250-300 dresses for which they bought cloth, cut out the dresses and sewed for children in need. Dale said, "All children need clothes."

Services will be handled by Vaughan-Guynn-McGrady Funeral Home. All are welcome to join the family on July 8, 2017 at 10:00 AM at Bluemont Presbyterian Church which is located near Milepost 192 of the Blue Ridge Parkway. Rev. Stewart Childress will conduct services.
