Grandma had a close brush with death near the end of 2016 and made what I'll call a comeback until she took a turn for the worse at the end of June.

I had written up a rough draft of her obit when she worsened and then my Mom found an obit Grandma had written for herself sometime before 2010 so I added a few details from that to mine and then we had a complete obituary.

Please note that Amanda is Pierre's step-daughter and Norma's step-granddaughter for genealogical purposes.

SANGOI, Norma Marie Monica (nee Wadel) passed away in her 94th year on July 2, 2017 at Derbecker's Heritage House in St. Jacob's.

Norma leaves behind two children; her devoted son, Pierre (Tammy McAughey) and grandchildren, Justin (Karen Hough) and Jordan Sangoi and Amanda Ohashi.

As well as her loving daughter, Yvette Cybulskie (Ric) and granddaughters, Cara-Mae Hackett (Tony O'Neill) and Leah MacLeod.

Also mourning Norma are her great-grandchildren, Torin Sparks and Talia O'Neill. As well as cousins Isobel, Bertha and Joan.

Norma was predeceased by her husband of 59 years, Eligio Sangoi, in June 2013.

Born in Kitchener on July 11, 1923 to parents, Leo L. Wadel and Johanna (nee Goetz), Norma grew up as an only child but had many cousins and friends over the years and will be missed by many.

She was a devoted member of many choirs over the years including: the KW Philharmonic; St. Joseph's (Stratford); St. Mary's (Kitchener); St. Louis and St. Michael's (Waterloo) and St. Agatha.

Norma was quick to share a memory, a song, or a drink with those who knew her.

She also enjoyed card games and cribbage and in her past created a number of beautiful oil paintings.

Our family would like to especially thank the staff at Derbecker's Heritage House for their exemplary care of Norma.

In lieu of flowers, donations to a charity of your choice can be made in Norma's memory and arranged through the funeral home.

Visitation is at Erb and Good in Waterloo on July 4, 2017 from 2 - 4 and again from 7 - 9 with Parish Prayers at 8:45 p.m.

A private family interment will take place at a later date at Woodland Cemetery, Kitchener.
