NORFOLK -- Funeral service for Darlene E. Zautke, 86, of Norfolk will be held at 10:30 a.m., Friday, July 7, 2017 at Stonacek Funeral Chapel in Norfolk. Interment will be at the Hillcrest Memorial Park Cemetery, Norfolk. Visitation will be held 4:00-7:00 p.m., Thursday also at Stonacek Funeral Chapel. Darlene passed away Saturday, July 1, 2017 at the Heritage of Bel-Air Nursing Home in Norfolk. Stonacek Funeral Chapel in Norfolk is in charge of the arrangements.
Born Nov. 16, 1930, at Pierce, she was the daughter of Alfred and Emma (Reed) Koehler. Darlene grew up in Pierce and graduated from Pierce High School in 1948. She moved to Norfolk after graduation.
On June 5, 1950, she married George Barrett in Norfolk. He passed away in August of 1973.
On Oct. 24, 1974, she married Roy Zautke in Norfolk. Darlene and Roy moved to South Sioux City in 1976, to Kearney in 1979, and then to Arizona in 1986 before returning to Norfolk in 1998. Throughout Darlene's life, she worked at the Norfolk Social Services, J.C. Penney's and the Elks Club.
She enjoyed reading books, cross stitching, cleaning, cooking, decorating, dancing and playing cards. Darlene always enjoyed family activities.
She was a member of Our Savior Lutheran Church, its ladies aid and a Bible class.
Survivors include her spouse, Roy Zautke of Norfolk; her children Kathy (Allen) Neujahr of Gilbert, Ariz., Roseann (Mike) Anderson of Lincoln, Richard (Johnene) Barrett of Mesa, Ariz., Nancy Barrett of Irvine, Calif., Lorrie Nichols of Las Vegas, Nev., and Ellen (Larry) Schmer of Lincoln; her stepchildren, Natala Wegner of Omaha, Dwight (Kristine) Zautke of Sioux City, Richard (Paulynn) Zautke of Norfolk, Nadine (Dick) Samsel of Chicago; 19 grandchildren; 21 great-grandchildren; a sister, Irene Neitzke of Norfolk; a sister, Norma (Roger) Kollmar of Riverbank, Calif.; a brother, Herman (Donna) Koehler of O'Neill; a sister-in-law, Sharon Koehler of Norfolk; a sister-in-law, Sharon Koehler of Hannibal, Mo.; and numerous nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her first spouse, George Barrett in 1973; parents Alfred and Emma; three sisters, Delores (Bill) Crow, Elsie (Dennis) Acklie, Phyllis (James) Jones; three brothers, Clarence Koehler, Dennis Koehler and Ervin (Betty) Koehler.
Music will be provided by organist Jean Zautke and soloist Rick Higgins. Casketbearers will be Bret Anderson, Matt Anderson, Jeff Acklie, Brock Zautke, Cory Zautke and Richard Zautke.
