She was the wife of the late Edward J. McMahon who died on July 07, 1972. Born in Washington, D.C., on September 8, 1921, she was the daughter of the late Charles Colvin and Carrie Dill.
She was a resident of Crestwood Village, Frederick, Md. for 29 years where she volunteered and worked as the receptionist at the Crestwood Clubhouse. She was the friendly "tour guide" to new and perspective residents. Ginny was a very active, caring friend to all.
She was a member of the American Legion, Frances Scott Key Unit 11 Auxiliary in Frederick, Md.
Surviving are her children, Barbara Cox (Darcy Erion), Hughesville, Md., James McMahon (Mary Ellen), Middletown, Md., Barry McMahon, Middletown, Md., and Daughter-in-law, Peggy McMahon, Warfordsburg, Pa., eleven grandchildren: Deborah Sikorski (Steve), Columbia, Md., James "Buddy" Cox (Lisa), Haymarket, Va., Jeffrey Cox (Marcie), Waldorf, Md., Cherish Harvey (Chris), Warfordsburg, Pa., Shawn McMahon (Bonny), Alexandria, Va., Brian McMahon, Middletown, Md., Kevin McMahon, Monrovia, Md., Jessie McMahon, Middletown, Md., Dylan McMahon, Middletown, Md., Kelley Hazelwood (Bart), Concord, N.C., nineteen great grandchildren and three great, great grandchildren. She is also survived by many nieces, nephews and friends.
She was preceded in death by her son, Dennis McMahon, her brothers, Ray Colvin, James Dill, and Randolph Colvin, her sister, Betty Gardner and grandson, Dane H. McMahon.
Virginia's family would like to express their gratitude to the staff and caregivers from Warm Heart Family Assistant Living for all their support and dedication which added so much to the quality of her life. They always made her feel safe, secure and happy.
A Memorial Mass will be held at 10:30am on Saturday, July 22, 2017 at the Holy Family Catholic Community, 7321 Burkittsville, Road, Middletown, Md. A private family internment was held at the Gate of Heaven Cemetery, Silver Spring, Md.
Arrangements are with Donald B. Thompson Funeral Home, 31 E Main Street, Middletown, Md.
