Son of Garland Glenn Maggard and Betty Nigh.

Husband to Theresa M. Vanlaarhoven and fiancee of Diane Langeneckert.

Dennis was the son of a military father and grew up around the world and the United States. After receiving a scholarship to and degree from MIT (Massachusetts Institute of Technology) he was finally able to plant roots in Boston. There he met and married his wife, raised his children and had a satisfying career as a software engineer.

A keen genealogist, he researched and wrote about his Maggard ancestors in Letcher County, Kentucky, the Melungeons and anything Irish, especially Irish politics! He was the administrator of several Facebook groups, one of which
boasted over 17,000 members. Dennis was an intellectual, a gracious and respectful gentleman. His unexpected passing brought tears to many eyes. Happily, he is now in a place where he has perfect health, is reunited with those he had loved, plays golf and commiserates with his Irish hero, Michael Collins, with whom he shares ‘a wee dram’ of Jamesons. Go dti go gcasfar le cheile sinn aris!
