Mr. Dennis Lee Pierce, age 60 of Calhoun, died Saturday, August 16, 2014 at his home following several months of declining health. He was born in Pickens County, GA on August 29, 1953, son of the late Grady and Ora Mae Pierce. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by brothers, Lee Roy and Ralph Pierce.
Dennis had been employed with the City of Calhoun since 1981.
He leaves behind his wife of 42 years, Barbara Ann Burnett Pierce; a son, Edward Pierce of Calhoun; two daughters, Amanda Crane and her husband Randy of Chickamauga, GA, and Pamela Pierce of Huntington, WV; a brother, Albert Pierce; and six sisters, Betty Certain and her husband Arnold of Calhoun, Barbara Cannon and her husband Melford of Calhoun, JoAnn Barrett of Calhoun, Retha Burns of Chatsworth, Teresa Boudreaux of Calhoun, and Claudine Brock of Chatsworth. Grandchildren surviving are Kayla Pierce, Christy Pierce, Sky Pierce, Randel Crane, Bridget Pierce, Rebekah Crane, James Crane, Jessica Salmons, and Jacob Crane; and great-grandchildren, Nehemiah Allen and Noah Allen.
Services to celebrate the life of Mr. Dennis Lee Pierce will be held Wednesday, August 20th at 1:00 PM from the Calhoun Church of God of the Union Assembly, with Darrell Akins and Fred Cassell officiating. Mr. Pierce's body will lie in state at the church Wednesday from 11:00 AM until the service hour. Interment will follow in Fain Cemetery. Active pallbearers will include Ben Jones, Jerry Jones, Shannon Akins, Jack Burnett, Dennis Gentry, and Charles Hughes.
The Pierce family will receive friends at Max Brannon and Sons Funeral Home Tuesday after 4:00 PM.
