Polly Dean Gibson, 64, of 317 Woodbine Ave., Rome, and formerly of Cedartown passed away on Sunday, March 12, 2006 following an extended illness. She was born in Polk County on July 15, 1941 to the late William Gernea Carter and Roxie Mae Ayers Carter. She had lived for the last 10 years in Rome, but had spent most of her life in the Cedartown area. She was a member of the First Assembly of God and had served as a WAC with the U.S. Army. She had worked for Brown's Ambulance Service for many years as an Emergency Medical Technician and had also served as a secretary for Polk Memory Gardens. She is survived by her husband, Wayne Elliott Gibson of Rome; one son, Russell Keith Gibson of Aragon; one daughter, Rhonda Elizabeth Goolsby Farmer of Rome; sisters, Barbara Jean Hale and Helen Elizabeth Turner, both of Cedartown. A number of nieces and nephews also survive. Funeral services were conducted on Wednesday, March 15, at 3 p.m. from the Oaknoll Chapel of Jennings Funeral Home in Rome with Pastor Inez Garrett and Pastor Dave McLucas officiating. Interment followed in the Polk Memory Gardens. Pallbearers were Jason Farmer, Joshua Farmer, Brian Turner, Greg Smith, Scott Turner and Ronnie Smith.
