Belgium, Illinois – Reba Alene Martin, 83, of the Village of Belgium, passed away peacefully at 10:50 am on Saturday, July 1, 2017 at her home surrounded by her family.
She was born October 3, 1933 in Flat Rock, Crawford County, Illinois to Orval Clarence and Clara Edith Rich Emmons. She married Robert Allen Martin on February 14, 1953 at the home of Reverend Fred M. Bailey in Crawford County, Illinois. They immediately moved to Danville, Illinois.
Surviving are: her husband Robert; three children: Douglas Allen (Roxanne) Martin of Frederick, MD, Deborah Alene Martin of Belgium, IL, and Dora Ann (David) Crowl of Belgium, IL; five grandchildren: Douglas Robert Howell of Indianapolis, IN, Derek Allen (Katie) Howell of Lake Villa, IL, Isaiah Martin Crowl, Joshua Taylor Crowl, and Cheyann Claral Crowl; two great-grandchildren: Norah F. Howell and Desmond F. Howell; many nieces and nephews, and a favorite niece: Shirley (Ted) Berry of Robinson, IL. She was preceded in death by her parents and one infant brother and one infant sister: Wanda Emmons; two sisters: Bonnie Marie Smith and Thelma Lucille Mendenhall; and one brother: Orval Jr Emmons.
Alene worked at and retired from See-More Cable TV for 20 years in Westville for where she was office manager. She was a member of the Catlin Church of Christ. She was active in accounts receivable for the congregation for over 8 years. She was a dedicated wife, mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother.
