Bob was the eldest son of (Robert) Earl and Maude Helen (Howard) Beaty. His father was a salesman in Albion, Marshall County, later he was an insurance agent in Ames. He had an older sister Louise and younger siblings: Edward and Ruth.
Bob was a resident of Ames since 1939, a graduate of ISU, a World War II vet and Purple Heart recipient, and owner of Beaty Real Estate and Insurance.
He married Rosemary Weisenbach in 1942. Bob and his wife enjoyed travel and wintering in Arizona. They belonged to the Red Friars Dance Club and square danced.
They were the parents of six children:
1. Robert (Cathy) Beaty III, Bellingham, WA.;
2. Donna (Rick) Flynn, 2 granddaughters, Cedar Rapids;
3. Christopher Beaty, Santa Rosa, CA.;
4. Mike (Sherri) Beaty, Nevada;
5. Janet (Ken) Dunn, Ames;
6. Tom (Kathy) Beaty, Rogersville, MO
