The death of Sydney Wilfred Astle husband of the late Annie (Dunnett) Astle of the Miramichi Senior Citizen Home and formerly of Sunny Corner, NB, occurred at his residence on Wednesday, January 17, 2018 at the age of 90. Born in Medford, Maine, Sydney was the son of the late Irving and Effie (Hare) Astle.
Sydney retired from the Aesculapious Fishing Lodge as a manager and was a woodworker.
Sydney is survived by one daughter: Verna Dunnett (Elwood) of Trout Brook, NB, five sons: Stephen (Vivian) of Sevogle, NB, Donald (Sharon) and Boyd (Dawn) all of Exmoor, NB, Ivan (Jeannie) of Sunny Corner, NB and Barry (Barb) of Quispamsis, NB; two sisters: June Anderson of Miramichi, NB, Betty Mutch (Vaughn) of Lyttleton, NB, two brothers: Peter (Thelma) of Sunny Corner, NB and Bill; fifteen grandchildren: Shelley, Robert, Jeffrey, Chris, Cheryl, Stephanie, Michelle, Danielle, Timothy, Jason, Tyson, Justin, Vanessa, Amanda and Andrea, several great grandchildren , nieces and nephews.
Sydney is predeceased by two sons: Dennis and Paul and one brother: Sonny.
Visitation will be held at Meadows Funeral Home, 150 Northwest Road, Sunny Corner, NB on Friday from 2-4 & 7-9. Funeral Service will be held from the Meadows Funeral Home Chapel on Saturday, January 20, 2018 at 11 AM with Pastor Fred Williams officiating.
Burial will take place in the Boom Road Presbyterian Cemetery later in the spring.
In Sydney's memory a donation may be made to the Canadian Cancer Society or a memorial of one's choice.
