Jennifer Ream Willis passed away at her home in Ashburn, Virginia, on Saturday, April 29, 2017, surrounded by family after a valiant battle with breast cancer.

Jennifer was born October 26, 1963, in Sioux Falls, South Dakota, to David and Judy Ream. After brief but formative experiences in New Jersey, California, and Iran, she moved with her parents to Northern Virginia in 1968.

Jennifer graduated in 1981 from J.E.B. Stuart High School in Falls Church, Virginia, having spent most of her later high school years on early academic release in various secretarial positions with the Department of Defense at the Pentagon. The advanced executive support skills she acquired in the Pentagon's secretarial pool during those years remained a source of pride for her, and she loved to recall the hours she commuted to and from the Pentagon with her father.

After briefly attending Brigham Young University in Provo, Utah, Jennifer returned to Northern Virginia and served as a Staff Assistant in the Reagan Administration from 1984-85 under then-Transportation Secretary Elizabeth Dole. She later served as the Director of Administration to the Executive Director of the American Legislative Exchange Council from 1985-87, and from 1987-88 as the Confidential Assistant to the Principal Deputy Executive Director of the Pension Benefit Guaranty Corporation.

Jennifer was called to serve as a missionary for the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints in the Seoul West Mission from 1988-1989, and Korea remained an important part of her life. During her missionary service in Korea, she met David Willis, whom she married on May 31, 1991, in Manti, Utah. Jennifer and David were privileged to spend 26 lovely years together in Utah, Wisconsin, and Virginia, and have four wonderful children: Emily (24), Joshua (21), Abigail (19), and Daniel (16).

In addition to being survived by her husband and children, Jennifer also is survived by her parents of Ashburn, Virginia, her brother Matthew Ream (Lisa) of Parker, Colorado, and her sister Rebecca Ream Vorimo (Pasi) of Ashburn, Virginia, as well as two nieces and six nephews.

She will be remembered for her deep and abiding faith in her Heavenly Father, her devotion to her family and friends, her humor, her wisdom, and her gentle kindness.

Jennifer will be laid to rest in a private graveside service at Union Cemetery in Leesburg, Virginia. Relatives and friends are invited to join a memorial service to celebrate her life at 2pm on Saturday, May 13, at the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints located at 21015 Claiborne Parkway, Ashburn, Virginia.

Memorial donations are welcome and can be made in her name to the Humanitarian Aid Fund of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints (give.lds.org/humanitarian).

Jennifer's family holds a deep gratitude for the friends and medical teams that supported her in her fight against breast cancer, from the early days in 2002 to her final moments. You know who you are and your service is etched in our hearts.
