John Howe Kidwell, Sr., age 76, of Warren, AR, passed away Thursday, June 29, at his home surrounded by his family and Sweet, his beloved pet. He was born September 28, 1940, in Midland, TX, a son of the late F.L. Kidwell and the late, Johnie Faye Howe McKinney.

He married the love of his life Anna Lee Wright Kidwell, May 19, 1962. He often proclaimed momma was the most beautiful woman he ever laid eyes on. He told everyone he met, he never had a family and his life began when he married Momma and they had children. He loved the United States of America and was a proud Arkansan.

He began his life in public service in the United States Navy serving from 1958 to 1961.

He proudly served the citizens of Arkansas from 1962 until 1997, in the Arkansas State Police. He retired as a Captain of Troop F in Warren. He served two terms as the Sheriff of Bradley County.

He was a member of Good Hope United Methodist Church.

He served as a lay speaker and then pastor for over 30 years at Good Hope United Methodist Church and New Edinburg United Methodist Church where he loved sharing his faith and made life long friends. He was a past Masonic Grand Master of Arkansas. He found great joy in having his children home, watching deer, visiting people, bragging on his grandchildren, sharing his faith and helping others.

Preceding him in death is his wife Anna Lee Kidwell, and one grandson Carson Pifer.

Survivors are two sons John Kidwell, II, and wife Angie, Hermitage, AR, Tony Kidwell and wife Brandy, West Point, AR. Five daughters Kelly Rowell and husband Stewart, Warren, AR, Kerry Gambill and husband Gary, Warren, AR, Kandy Burt, Warren, AR, Robin Pifer and husband Trey, Banks, AR, and Mary Lara, Harrison, AR. Three sisters Cherie Bryant, Alpena, AR, Karen Roberts, Midland, TX, Shelley Hummel, Boerne, TX. 22 grandchildren, 7 great-grandchildren and a host of nieces, nephews and friends.

Funeral service will be 4:30 p.m. Sunday, July 2, at First United Methodist Church in Warren. Burial in Williams Cemetery by Frazer's Funeral Home. Visitation 3:00 p.m. until service time Sunday, July 2, at First United Methodist Church.

Memorials preferred to Fe Fe's Soup Kitchen or Good Hope United Methodist Church.
