Jim served in the Illinois National Guard before joining the USAF during the Korean war and served as a weatherman until honorably discharged in 1954. After leaving the service, he graduated from the University of Illinois and worked as a mechanical engineer for Owens-Illinois until retirement. Jim and his wife visited 48 states in their Winnebago and founded the Mid-Ohio Winnies motor home club. The Club started with 8 and is now 35 coaches strong.
Jim is survived by his wife Dorothy of 66 years; son Brad; daughter Cynthia; six grandchildren - Bradley, Devin, Dustin, Kyle, Michael and Treya; seven great grandchildren - Adam, Alyssa, Braden, Desiree, Gabriella, Kayla and Madison. Jim was preceded in death by his daughter Nancy and grandsons Jeremy and Shane.
A memorial service will be held at Westgate Chapel on 2500 Wilford Drive, Toledo at a time to be determined.
