Dale Gordon Crawford
1926 - 2017
Dale Gordon Crawford, of Eugene, passed away on Monday, June 19, 2017. He was born on May 1, 1926 in Ellensburg, Washington to Bernard Crawford and Bertha Gordon Crawford. A World War II Navy veteran, after returning from the Pacific, Dale graduated from Washington State University and married Marie Lavon Mankle in Yakima in 1948. They remained married for 66 years until Marie's passing in 2014. They had three children: Don Crawford of Portland; Alan Crawford of Glendale, California; and Diane Crawford-Kelly of Natick, Massachusetts; and one grandchild: Ian Crawford, currently living in New York City. Dale is also survived by his sister, Shirley Jacobson, of Albany, Oregon. Dale worked for over forty years as a salesman for Pacific Machinery & Tool Steel Company of Portland and also found time for various hobbies and associations: coin collecting, volunteering for the Friends of the Eugene Public Library, commercial fishing, membership in the Elks (including Elk of the Year in 2016), playing, organizing, and officiating at badminton tournaments, and competing fiercely at cards. Friends and family are invited to celebrate Dale's life at the Eugene Elks Lodge #357 at 2470 West 11th Avenue in Eugene on Saturday, August 12 from 1:00 to 3:00 pm.
