SMITHFIELD - Stephen Ray Owens, 44, beloved and devoted father, husband, son, brother, and friend, passed away suddenly, Friday, September 5, 2014. Stephen has now joined his father, Douglas Owens (d. 2009) and other family members in Heaven. First and formost, Steve loved his family and leaves to cherish his memories his wife, Mandy H. Owens; his children, Brennan Hollowell, McKayla Russell Gentilini, and Lily Owens; his mother, Cecile McPherson Owens; his sister, Tonya Lynch (Keith); his brother, Lee Owens; and a host of extended family and friends, whom Steve loved so much. Steve was an accomplished craftsman, painter and builder, and business owner. In his pastime, he enjoyed hunting, fishing, and riding his motorcycle. Friends and family will gather for visitation 12 noon til 1:30 pm, Friday, September 12, in Colonial Funeral Home, Smithfield, followed by a celebration of Steve's life at 1:30pm, with Rev. George Boomer officiating. Burial will follow in St. Luke's Memorial Park. The family suggests memorial contributions be made to Farmer's Bank, 1119 S. Church Street, Smithfield, 23430 for the benefit of Stephen Owen's children. Arrangements are in the care of Colonial Funeral Home.
