Mrs. Ford was born March 7, 1941 in Ivan, LA to Sarah Williams Hawkins and Leon "LC" Robinson. She was the oldest of six siblings to her mother and stepfather, Thomas Hawkins. She departed this life on June 21, 2017.

At an early age, she accepted Christ and attended Aimwell Baptist Church where her grandfather, the late Reverend Jake Williams was a strong influence in her Christian walk.

She received her childhood education in Benton, LA and graduated from Booker T. Washington High School in 1958. The same year she united in holy matrimony to Floyd "Mike" Ford, and to this union five children were born.

Gladys was employed at the Ear, Nose and Throat Clinic as a Nurse's Aide where she retired after 28 rewarding years of service.

She was a faithful member of Mt. Olive Baptist Church of Shreveport, and she served in the mission ministry. It was absolutely no secret that her heart and love was with ministry of songs, the choir.

Gladys was loved and well known by neighbors, friends, and family as "Mama Ford". She faithfully shared her sweet spirit her sense of humor. Her angelic soprano voice inspired her front porch visitors, those in the doctors' offices, and even guest as they dined at the Golden Corral. Her signature song was, "HE'S AN ON TIME GOD!"
