Betty J. Miller, 83, formerly of Hartfield-Stockton Road, Dewittville, N.Y., passed away on Tuesday, June 27, 2017, at Heritage Village Rehab and Skilled Nursing, Gerry, N.Y.
She was born Oct. 7, 1933, in Hubbardsville, N.Y., the late daughter of Vyron and Kate Dinwiddie Lake.
Betty was a member of the Hartfield-Dewittville United Methodist Church and an auxiliary member of Hartfield Volunteer Fire Department. She was an avid gardener and also enjoyed cross stitching. Betty was a wonderful cook and loved nature, animals and especially loved her grandchildren.
She is survived by four daughters: Virginia June Canfield of Gowanda, N.Y., Karen Ann Seekings of Jamestown, N.Y., Lynne Kruse of Bemus Point, N.Y. and Amy C. (Kevin) Brush of Olean, N.Y.; her son, Donald Richard (Terry) Miller of Mayville, N.Y.; two sisters: Florence Lake of Manlius, N.Y. and Ruth Jeffrey of Sherburne, N.Y.; 12 grandchildren: Shawn Canfield, Gretchen Bosch, Mona Miller, Morgan Miller-Majkowski, Trevor Miller, Christina Hagberg, David Seekings, Stephanie O’Hare, Andrew Carlson, Christopher Kruse, Matthew Brush and Jeffrey Brush.
In addition to her parents, Betty is preceded in death by her husband, Virgil Miller (2014), whom she married Aug. 21, 1955; her son, Michael James Miller; a son-in-law, Paul Kruse; a brother, William Lake; and a sister, Alice Lake.
A graveside service will be held at Mayville Cemetery on Friday at 11 a.m. The Rev. Donald Ray will officiate. Friends and family may visit at the cemetery from 10-11 a.m.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to 2825 Chautauqua County Humane Society, Strunk Road, Jamestown, NY 14701, or Heritage Village Rehab and Skilled Nursing, 4570 Route 60, Gerry, N.Y. 14740
