Carl V. Rice, son of the late David Luther Rice and Gladis Cossey Rice was born on November 28, 1932 in Portageville, Missouri and departed this life on June 27, 2017 at his residence in Dexter at the age of 84.

Mr. Rice was a Veteran of the United States Air Force, a member of the Emmanuel Baptist Church in Dexter and a resident of Dexter. He had worked at the Missouri Baptist Hospital in St. Louis in their surgical suite.

On May 2,2004, he was united in marriage to Barbara Dix Gainer in Malden. Mrs. Rice survives of their home in Dexter.

Besides his wife, he is survived by one daughter, Carla J. Rice of Dexter; by one brother, Marlan Rice of Poplar Bluff; by two sisters, Hazel Fulmer of Porter, Texas and Linda Ray Guthrie of Campbell; by seven grandchildren, fourteen great-grandchildren and many nieces and nephews.
Besides his parents, he was preceded in death by one son, Steven Howard Rice.
Friends may call at the Rainey-Mathis Funeral Home in Dexter on Friday, June 30, 2017 from Noon until 1:00 P.M. Funeral services will then be conducted on Friday at 1:00 P.M. in the Rainey-Mathis Funeral Chapel in Dexter with Rev. Jared Hancock and Rev. Shane Mallard officiating.
Interment will follow in the Missouri State Veterans Cemetery in Bloomfield.
