Christine was born Oct 22, 1948 in Elkland, PA to the late John J. and Myrtle F (Pratt) Wheeler.
Picture a perfect morning for Chris - 5 am start on a warm, sunny, summer day. The smell of watered-down black coffee emitting from the thermique. You can hear her laughter as she chats on her phone, or shares a story with one of her many deck patrons. Chris looks across the smooth-as-glass surface of Waneta Lake and spots Howard the Crane. As she stands and walks to the front of the deck to get a closer look, her toad tattoo is clearly displayed. Her love of toads is evident in her lake surroundings, both inside and outside of her homey cottage. While her family and friends continue to gather on and around her spacious deck, everyone feels comforted, heard, and loved by this tough-as-nails lady who was always 100% real. Deck patrons and all others who were blessed to know her have one thing to say. Chris, we love you and will miss you dearly.
She is survived by her two children: Scott (Tami) Phenes of Painted Post, NY and Crystal Malin of Corning, NY; sister: Lilian (David) Crooker of Caton, NY; brother: John (Barb) Wheeler of Corning, NY; five grandchildren: Carissa (Jason Stage) Shelanskey of Corning, Kayla (Joey) Brizzee of Cameron Mills, NY, Zachary Phenes of Painted Post, NY, Tyler (Ashlie) Phenes of Roanoke, VA, and Matthew Malin II of Corning, NY; great grandchildren: Tacoma Brizzee, Camden Stage, Everett Stage, and Ryder Brizzee; sister-in-law: Anne Wheeler of Corning; along with many nieces and nephews.
She was predeceased by her brothers, Gary and Michael Wheeler.
