Served as a Lieutenant in the New Jersey Regiment during the French War, 1758-1759.Zephaniah died of swamp fever. His wife, Anna Lewis nee Doty (1739-1828) was a Great-great granddaughter of Edward Doty (1599-1655) who came to America on the Mayflower. Zephaniah's father, Thomas Lewis built & operated the Old Mill in Bernardsville, Somerset Co., NJ which is now called "The Old Mill Inn" & restaurant.
