John L. Ortiz, 68, died Tuesday, June 27, 2017 at home surrounded by his family.

Born on June 26, 1949, John was the son of the late Floyd and Carmen (Gutierrez) Ortiz.

On December 29, 1973, John was united in marriage to Mary Riojas and she survives.

John worked construction in Ft. Wayne, Indiana for over 27 years.

He was a member of St. Michael Catholic Church, Hicksville. He was also a member of the Hicksville Eagles.

John is also survived by his children, Carmen (Matt) Carrier, Tony (Bridget) Ortiz, Penny (Manuel) Dominguez; four grandchildren, Austin, Kyleigh, Jacoby and Jack, sisters, Gloria Jasso, Hope (Lamberto) Castillo, Juanita (Manuel) Gonzales and Carmen Lanum.

He was preceded in death by siblings, Mary Razo, Christina Contreas, Josephine Navarro, Paul Ortiz, Dorothy Chew, Margaret Nieto, Rosie Fuentes, Gilbert Ortiz, Lela Sanchez and a son in law, Amador Lozano.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be Monday, July 3 at 10:30 at St. Michael Catholic Church, Hicksville. Visitation will be Sunday from 1-7 at Smith & Brown Funeral Home with a Rosary Service at 7:00.

Burial will be in Forest Home Cemetery, Hicksville.
