OBITUARY FOR ANNY MAY (HARLESS) LUMBERT
COURTESY: CHARLES R. LUX FUNERAL HOME
MT. PLEASANT, MICHIGAN

Anna May (Harless) Lumbert, age 82, of Mt. Pleasant (Isabella County), Michigan, passed away Tuesday, June 21, 2017, at Woodland Hospice in Mt. Pleasant (Isabella County), Michigan.
Anna May was born October 22, 1934, in Sod, West Virginia, the daughter of the late Chester Boyd and Emma Susan (Tyler) Harless. She was the youngest of five children and enjoyed an extraordinarily close relationship with her siblings and their families throughout her lifetime. She married Richard Floyd Lumbert on July 30, 1960, in Mt. Pleasant (Isabella County), Michigan and would have celebrated 57 years of marriage next month.
Anna graduated from Mt. Pleasant High School in 1952 where she was an Oiler cheerleader. She maintained a relationship with her friends and classmates through the decades and more recently would gather at the Big Boy restaurant for monthly lunches.
She worked at the Embers and Agnes' Wonderland Diner as a waitress and later at Giant Supermarket as a cashier until her retirement.
Anna enjoyed bowling at Chippewa Lanes for many years with her teammates and family. She also loved to roller skate, often taking her children and grandchildren to the rink. She played cards and poker with all her grandchildren and always cooked the best breakfasts with fried eggs.
She was always doing something special for her family and during Christmas she gave baskets of homemade buns, banana bread, rock candy, peanut brittle and other delights including her famous chocolate covered cherries.
She crocheted and made several afghans and doilies for her family and was one of the best seamstresses. She made her own dress for her daughter's wedding, and they shared the day celebrating her 60th birthday and her marriage. Ann truly had a heart of gold.
For decades, come November, she would host and feed the family hunting clan in the early morning hours. She would cook up a spread for her husband, son, son-in-law, grandsons, brothers and several nephews. All in the family are grateful for her hospitality. Her children, grandchildren and great-grandchildren were her devotion and she made them all feel special. She will be truly missed and admired for her loving nature. A legacy her family will strive to continue.
The family will receive friends on Sunday, from 2:00 to 6:00 P.M. and on Monday, one hour prior to the service.
Her funeral will be celebrated at 11:00 A.M. Monday, June 26, at the Charles R. Lux Family Funeral Home, with her nephew, the Reverend Darryl Harless officiating, and interment will follow at Memorial Gardens, in Mt. Pleasant (Isabella County), Michigan.
Anna May is survived by her husband, Richard; one son, Robert (Mary) Lumbert, of Cedar Springs (Kent County), Michigan; one daughter, Lori (Jamie) Gillis, of Mt. Pleasant (Isabella County), Michigan; six grandchildren; three great-grandchildren with one on the way; her sister-in-law, Nona Harless, of Alma (Gratiot County), Michigan and several nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Chester and Emma Harless; her siblings, Sybil Matteson, Jim Harless, Boyd Harless and Bill Harless and her granddaughter, Angel Sue Gillis.
Memorial contributions may be given to the charity of the donor's choice and envelopes are available at the funeral home.
