Rebecca "Ree" Willett Stiles, fifth daughter of Kitchell Mathias (1819-85) and Caroline Hobbs Stiles (1828-1908), was born June 9, 1869, in Hodgenville, Ky. She lived in Hodgenville. She married (1) in 1890, Squire Hines Tarpley (1863-1900), son of Joseph (1815-94) and Elizabeth A. LaRue Tarpley (1826-88), of Hodgenville. He was a hotel clerk for his father. Their children were Katie Higgins (1894-1991)(dsp) who married William J. Kohler (c1885-1977) and lived in Louisville; and Stiles LaRue Tarpley (1898-1967). She married (2) in 1906, Edward T. Etherton (1844-1907), of Hodgenville.

Stiles LaRue Tarpley was a real estate broker in Louisville, Ky. He married (1) in 1916, Mary Catherine Dixon (1896-1961), daughter of George William (1852-1935) and Martha J. Pryor Dixon (1870-1947). Their children were Herbert Stiles (1918-88), and infant Tarpley (1919). He married (2) in 1924, Hazel Medley (1899-1979), daughter of William Eugene (1874-1945) and Lydia Downs Medley (1879-1909), of Meade County, Ky. Their four children were Ladonna "Donna" May (1925-2011) who married James Andrew Spellman (1922-2003); Beatrice Paul (1927-92) who married Winston Deane Kreachbaum (1923-91); Marilyn Frances (1928-) who married William C. Daugherty (1926-2009); and Lydia H. Tarpley who married (1)James Elwood Dowd, and (2) a McDaniel.

Rebecca Willett Stiles died December 3, 1931, and is probably buried in Louisville. Her husband, Squire Hines Tarpley, died October 10/15, 1900, and is probably buried in LaRue County.
