Verlynn John Johnson was born November 11, 1948 in Iowa, the son of John H. and Anna R. (Heckenleibel) Johnson. He attended church at St. Peter Lutheran Church in Newell where he was baptized on November 28, 1948 and later confirmed on April 15, 1965.
Growing up, Verlynn was an avid reader. He attended school in Newell where he graduated from Newell Providence in 1966.
Following high school graduation, Verlynn furthered his education at Iowa State University where he graduated with an Engineering Degree.
Upon returning home, Verlynn farmed with his father before becoming injured in a motorcycle accident. He then made his home at the Newell Good Samaritan Society where he enjoyed the Spelling Bees.
Verlynn was an avid fan of the Iowa State Cyclones and Mountain Dew. He will be deeply missed by all who knew and loved him.
Verlynn was preceded in death by his parents.
