Catherine F. Lala, a long-time resident of the Austin area, died Friday the 23rd of June. Catherine was born on March 8, 1931 in Tampa Bay, Florida to parents, Jack Lala Sr. and Nelly Smith. Catherine received a Business Education degree from Patterson, New Jersey in 1969 before moving to Austin. She opened LaLa's Bar in October 1972 and worked there for 43 years until her retirement on September 2, 2015. LaLa's Bar was known for its Christmas theme. Catherine's hobbies included pro-football, gambling and friends. She is survived by her sister Thelma Margaret Greig, brother-in-law Bill Greig and several nieces and nephews, all of whom live in Las Vegas, Poland and Florida. She is also survived by her best friend and business partner Sara Santos. The family would like to thank all of the customers and friends during this sad time.
