Gloria Raffella Perry passed away peacefully Sunday, June 18, 2017. Gloria will be missed by her children, Lee Ann (Kent), Michael (Linda), and "adopted son," Steve (Susan); her grandchildren, Michael, Mitchell, Marcus, and Marissa; and her four great-granddaughters. She will also be missed by her brother Mike (Helen), sister Anna Mae, and several nieces and nephews. Gloria was preceded in death by her husband of 62 years, Richard Keith Perry (2016).

Gloria was born in Pennsylvania, to Napoleon James Constantino and Edith Victoria Zuchelli Constantino and grew up with her extended family in Cleveland, Ohio. Because of her adventurous spirit and her desire to see the world, Gloria enlisted in the U.S. Air Force in 1951, and she served as secretary to General Lauris Norstad, Commander in Chief Allied Forces Central Europe in France. Gloria and Richard met and married in France; they made Bakersfield their home in 1957.

For nearly 30 years, Gloria was the secretary/administrative assistant for the store managers of Sears, Roebuck and Company, located in the Valley Plaza.

In 1979, Gloria joined Calvary Bible Church; she loved her church family, her Bible Study groups, and Mission Bells. Over the years, she was a member of the American Business Women's Association, the Kern County Boat and Ski Club, the Tight Turtles and the No-Name-Sams camping clubs. During retirement, Gloria bowled with the Primetimers at Regency and Westchester. Gloria and Richard enjoyed traveling the country in their RV, seeing many wonderful sights, and making a lot of new friends along the way. She loved reading, cooking, baking, dessert, and chocolate!! She also adored her dog, Marley, her constant companion in recent years.

Blessed with a rich, full life, Gloria always had a smile to share; she never had an unkind word for or about anyone. Her kind, generous, and loving spirit touched the lives of all who were blessed to know her. Gloria will be fondly remembered and missed by many.

Heartfelt thanks to Westchester Home and Annette Pellens. Thank you to Gloria's loving caretakers Tiffany, Anna, Shannon, Nicole, Sonia, and Breanna. A special thank you to Ana and Kelly.

Gloria will be laid to rest next to Richard at the Kern County National Cemetery on Thursday, June 29, 2017, at 10:45 am. Following the burial, a memorial service will be held at Calvary Bible Church, 48 Manor Street in Bakersfield at noon.

In lieu of flowers, do something kind for someone in need or make a donation to any of the organizations that support Parkinson's research or to Hoffman Hospice.
