Sergeant Major, US Army retired, Frederick George King was born on March 29, 1937 in Ionia, Ionia County Michigan, and he was the son of Vernon George King (1906–1989) and his wife Norma Jean (Jones) King (1919–1984).

He was married about 1961 to Helga -- .

Serving in the US Army for 30 years, Frederick received the Bronze Star before retiring as a Sergeant Major. He was also a member of the VFW and enjoyed working crossword puzzles and playing computer games.

Frederick was a resident of Clarksville, Montgomery County, Tennessee and 80 years old when he passed away on June 25, 2017 at Clarksville Nursing and Rehabilitation.

Preceded in death by his brother Walter King, he was survived by his widow, a married son, two daughters and a son-in-law, a brother, sister, five grandchildren and a great-grandchild.

Funeral Services were held at the chapel of Gateway Funeral Home, and burial with Military Honors was in Resthaven Memorial Gardens in Clarksville.
