John was a Christian and a Baptist minister for 60 years. He was a member of Lakeside Baptist Church. He pastored several churches in Knox, Blount, Loudon, McMinn and Monroe Counties. He retired from Alcoa Aluminum Company, Purdy Brothers Trucking and Ruan Transport. He was a veteran of the U.S. Army. He led a full life, giving of his time to the ministry and as chaplain of Monroe County Jail and as auxiliary policeman in Monroe County and Greenback City. He loved people and helping the unfortunate.
He was preceded in death by loving son, John Kevin Kiser; father and mother, J.B. and Myrtle Kiser; baby sister, Debbie; father-in-law and mother-in-law, J.W. and Debbie Summitt; brother-in-law, Ralph Millsaps; several aunts and uncles.
Survivors: wife of 55 years, Dollie Kiser; sons, Michael Kiser, and friend, Annette, of Vonore, Steven Kiser and wife, Beth, of Cleveland; daughters-in-law, Cindy Kiser, Linda Kiser; granddaughters, Michaela Kiser and fiance, Mikey Stewart, of Vonore, Kristyn and Cameryn Kiser, of Madisonville; grandsons, Nathan Kiser and wife, Katie, of Knoxville, Matthew Kiser and Brittany Best, of Vonore, Cabe Kiser, of Madisonville; great-grandson, Easton Stewart; great-granddaughter, Reagan Kiser; sister and brother-in-law, Sue and Ray Maxwell, of Lenoir City; brothers and sisters-in-law, Homer and Ronda Kiser, of Morristown, Floyd and Lora Kiser, of Alabama; brothers-in-law, Glen Summitt and wife Mary, of Loudon, Bennie and Troye Summitt, of Vonore; sisters-in-law, June Summitt and Mollie Summitt, Mildred Millsaps, all of Vonore; uncle and aunt, Jake and Bobbie Hanley, of Minnesota; several nieces and nephews.
Funeral 7:00 p.m. Tuesday, Lakeside Baptist Church, Rev. Robert D. Moore, Rev. Carl Croft officiating. Interment 11:00 a.m. Wednesday in Lakeside Cemetery with military honors by V.F.W. Post 5156, D.A.V Chapter 93 and American Legion Post 106.
