Scott was born at the San Angelo clinic hospital in San Angelo, Texas, to the late Scott William Barrett and Carole Sue Dismore Barrett. He grew up in Norton, Texas, attending grade school before moving to Bronte with his family, to complete his high school years. Tony worked as an oilfield contract pumper for 30 years. He and his dad owned Barrett's Oil Field Pumping Service, serving the West Texas oilfield area for many years. Tony married Jolene Vaughn in 1972.
He was an accomplished calf roper throughout his lifetime, traveling and competing in ropings. He was also a member of the West Texas Rodeo Association. Tony's love and passion for horses were constant throughout his life. Whether he was competing, day-working, or breaking a colt, he was the happiest when on horseback.
Tony was notorious for his quick wit, individuality, and sense of humor. Anyone who knew him knew he was full of his own "Tony-isoms." Tony was a lifelong resident of Coke and Runnels Counties, where he lived his life and raised his family.
He was preceded in death by his grandparents, Curtis W. Barrett and Sallie M. Barrett, of Norton, and W.H. "Huck" Dismore and Lou Dismore, of Bronte; and a brother, Kim W. Barrett of Abilene.
Survivors include his daughters, Joni Sue Busby and husband, Brandon, of Bronte, and Brittany Barrett, of Austin; grandchildren, Saige, Saebri, and Brodie Busby; sister, Jeri Ann Baker, of Elliston, Virginia; brother, Trey Baker, of Sweetwater, TX; other relatives and many friends. M5
