Carrie (pronounced CAR - RE) was born and grew up in northern Mississippi but lived her adult life in Memphis, TN. She was a "stay at home mom" and loved homemaking. She sewed dresses for her two daughters, crocheted, was a wonderful cook, and loved to can vegetables that she would buy at the farmer's market. When her children still lived at home, she cooked Christmas dinner for about 25 relatives every year. When her father died, she and her husband welcomed her mother, Martha Lewis, into their home and she lived with them until she passed away 18 years later. In her senior years she lived up to her married name WALKING 6 miles a day for exercise. She was always an industrious woman.
