Virginia Buhrman Pearce, 94, passed away Sept. 28, 2005, at The Chesapeake in Newport News, Va., where she had been a resident for more than a decade.
Mrs. Pearce was a long-time member of the Euzelian Sunday School Class of Hilton Baptist Church.
Born in Blue Ridge Summit, Pa. on June 8, 1911, she was a daughter of John M. Buhrman and Nettie Birely Buhrman. She was preceded in death by her husband, James W. Pearce Sr.; son, James W. Pearce Jr.; grandson, Glenn N. Pearce, and 11 siblings.
Survivors include son, David H. Pearce of Blacksburg, Va.; grandchildren, Jill P. Montagna of Asheville, N.C., Todd L. Pearce of Vilas, N.C., Caren P. Parker of Plano, Texas and Gail P. Deaton of Garner, N.C. She is also survived by eight great-grandchildren including: Samantha, Sarah and Grace Pearce, Nicky and Shaun Montagna, Alex and Brianna Bouterse, and Jimmy Deaton.
Viewing will be 7 to 8:30 p.m. Friday, Sept. 30, at Peninsula Funeral Home on Warwick Blvd. in Newport News.
Funeral services will be 10 a.m. Saturday, Oct. 1, at Peninsula Funeral Home with the Rev. Lynwood Wells officiating, followed by interment at Peninsula Memorial Park.
