GALVESTON: Lola Mae Thompson age 86 of Galveston passed from this life and entered her eternal rest Sunday June 25, 2017 at her residence in Galveston. Funeral services are 1:00 pm with visitation beginning at 9:00 am, Saturday, July 1, 2017 at Carnes Brothers Funeral Home in Galveston. Burial will follow at Lakeview Cemetery.
Born in Bedias, Texas, Lola lived most of her life in Galveston attending Galveston public schools and graduating from Central High School. She went on to College of the Mainland where she earned an Associates degree of Applied Sciences in Early Childhood Development. She has maintained a long and close affiliation with First Baptist Church and Trinity Episcopal Church for most of her life. Her hobbies include Word Search, working with plants and volunteering at Moody Gardens.
Preceded in death by her parents and a son, Jerry Thompson, Sr., survivors include her daughter, Jennifer Mitchell of Plano, Texas; grandchildren, Chestina Thompson of Edmond, Oklahoma, Jerry Thompson, Jr. (Crystal) of Rowlett, Texas and Christina Thompson of Texas City; great grandchild Sydney Thompson of Rowlett and a host of other relatives and friends.
Pallbearers are family and friends.
