OBITUARY :
MRS. EMMA MAY (PARKS) HOFFMAN, 97, formerly of Grace Street, Waynesboro, PA passed away Sunday, June 25, 2017 in the Mount Vernon Nursing Home, Alexandria, VA.

Born February 20, 1920 in Altoona, PA, she was the daughter of the late Richard and Grace (Lightner) Parks.

Mrs. Hoffman was a graduate of Washington Township High School.

She and her husband the late, Charles “Mutt” Hoffman were married May 18, 1940 in Evangelical United Brethren Church, Waynesboro, presently Faith United Methodist Church. Mr. Hoffman passed away May 8, 2008.

Mrs. Hoffman was employed by the Waynesboro Area School District as a school secretary at the middle school.

She enjoyed reading, gardening, doing word searches, and crossword puzzles. Mrs. Hoffman was a member of Faith United Methodist Church, Waynesboro.

She is survived by two sons, Charles “Charlie” W. Hoffman of Alexandria, VA and George F. Hoffman of Bishop, CA; seven grandchildren; 16 great-grandchildren; and a number of nieces and nephews.

In addition to her parents and husband she is preceded in death by two sisters, Ada Singer and Thelma Needham; and a great-grandson, Sean Wrigley Hoffman who died several hours after birth.

Graveside services will be held 1:00 P.M., Friday, June 30, 2017 in Green Hill Cemetery, 953 S. Potomac Street, Waynesboro, with the Rev. Mark Shover officiating.

Grove-Bowersox Funeral Home, Waynesboro is handling the arrangements.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made in Mrs. Hoffman’s name to Faith United Methodist Church, 104 N. Potomac Street, Waynesboro, PA 17268.
