Mr. Donald "Jerry" Byrd, age 55, 144 Hairetown Rd, Jonesborough, died Monday, December 26, 2005 at his residence.

Mr. Byrd was a native of Mitchell County, North Carolina and son of Rabe Byrd, Unicoi and the late Blanche Street Byrd. He was a member of Chestnut Grove Union Church.

In addition to his father, survivors include soul mate, Janet McMahon, of the home; two sons, Dan Byrd, Manhattan, Kansas and Rabe McMahan, of the home; two daughters, Tina Herron, Westminster, MD and Angelia Byrd, Maryland; five grandchildren, Lucas Byrd, Manhattan, KS, Amanda Rice, Fredericksburg, MD, Jacob Herron, Maryland, Taylor Livesay, Eldersburg, Maryland, and Nicholas Goodwin, Maryland; seven brothers, Charles Byrd, Daniel Byrd, both of Jonesborough, David Byrd, Unicoi, Eddie Lee Byrd, Limestone Cove, Gibbs Byrd, Paul Byrd, both of Unicoi, and Wade Byrd, Mosheim; two sisters, Carolyn Roberts, Hendersonville, NC and Connie Street, Elizabethton; special friends, Doug & Judy Bowling, Maryland, Paul Stem, Maryland, Rodney Ward, Jonesborough, and Gene & Sue McMahan; and several nieces and nephews.

Funeral services will be conducted 1:00 pm Wednesday, December 28, 2005 at the Dillow-Taylor Funeral Home Chapel with Rev. Ken Gaskin Sr. officiating. The family will receive friends from 11:00 am-1:00 pm Wednesday prior to the service. Interment will follow in Roselawn Memory Gardens.

Pallbearers will be Scott Burns, Tim Byrd, Mark Gurley, Adam Byrd, Li'l Jerry Byrd, Li'l David Byrd, Shawn Byrd, Chris Byrd and John Davis. Honorary pallbearers will be members of Chestnut Grove Union Church, Gene McMahan, and employees of the Jonesborough Medical Center.
