Shirley Quick, 77, of Moosic and formerly of Old Forge, died Saturday morning at Hospice of the Sacred Heart Inpatient Unit, Dunmore, after an illness. She was preceded in death by her beloved husband, Albert Quick Sr., on Oct. 4, 1980.

Born July 22, 1939, and raised in Old Forge, she was the daughter of the late Helen and Thomas Thorne. Upon raising her children, she worked for many years at the former Howard Johnson Lodge in Pittston. She was also a longtime member of the Stewart Memorial United Methodist Church in Old Forge.

A notable cook and baker, Shirley's favorite pastime was playing cards with her grandchildren. The focal point of her life was her family, and taking care of them meant everything to her. She will be forever missed.

She is survived by her four children, Sharon D'Annunzio and husband, Michael, Moosic; Shirley Cutro, Tunkhannock; and Albert Quick Jr. and David Quick, both of Moosic; brother, Eddie Thorne and wife, Jeanie, Old Forge; eight grandchildren; 14 great-grandchildren; and many nieces and nephews.

She was also preceded in death by siblings, Jack, Alfred, Clifford and Ronald Thorne, and Grace Lis.

Her family wishes to acknowledge Dr. Mark Lyons as well as the entire staff of Hospice of the Sacred Heart for their amazing generosity, care and compassion in Shirley's final days.

Private funeral services will be conducted by the Rev. Dr. Michael Shambora, pastor of the Stewart United Methodist Church. Burial, Marcy Cemetery, Duryea.
