Mr. McClard, 30 years old, was pronounced dead at a Chester, Ill. hospital Thursday. He was employed on a coal barge and apparently fell from the barge and drowned.
He was born Feb. 17, 1955, at Galveston, Texas, the son of Maple Frank and Betty Jean Wright McClard.
He was a deckhand with Mid-America Transportation. He had been living in Chaffee since 1960, moving here from Delta.
On Nov. 6, 1980, he married the former Brenda Sue Keller. She survives.
Also surviving is a son, Michael F. McClard Jr.; a daughter, Lori Beth McClard; a brother, Samuel E. McClard; and sisters, Mrs. Barbara Lee Sheppard, Mrs. Verna Mae Vasquez and Betty Jo Vasquez.
