Obituary

Mary "Helen" Schaller went to heaven on May 18, 2016 after a beautiful marriage of almost 70 years to the love of her life, Robert Vincent "Bob" Schaller, Sr. Helen was born to John J. and Johanna Hebert Prejean in Orange, Texas on January 23, 1926. Preceding Helen in death are her parents, and stepmother Olivia Prejean, her siblings Harold Joseph Prejean, John J. Prejean, Lucille Prejean Anderson, Ethel Prejean, Francis Prejean, and Walter Prejean, her grandson David McKay and her daughter-in-law Charlene Schaller.
Helen was a member of St. Mary's Catholic Church and attended St. Mary's Catholic Schools, graduating as valedictorian of her senior class. After contributing to the World War II ship building efforts in Orange, Texas, she met and married Bob on January 25, 1947 at St. Mary's Catholic Church and resided in Orange, Texas until 1988 when they moved to Pasadena, Texas to be closer to their growing family. Helen and Bob became members of St. Hyacinth Catholic Church in Deer Park, Texas. Her hobbies included family gatherings and holiday celebrations, as well as traveling, calligraphy, crafts and writing poetry.
Helen cherished her relationships with God, family and friends. As Matriarch of the Schaller family, she continued to lead by our Lord God's examples and demonstrated unwavering faith which has safely guided her back to God's loving arms.
Helen is survived by her loving husband of over 69 years, Robert Vincent Schaller, Sr., along with their 10 children – Robert Vincent Schaller, Jr. and wife Sherry, Gregory Ray Schaller and wife Yvonne, Dolores Vee McGowan and husband Clifford, Jude Romaine McKay and husband Harry, Allan Kirby Schaller and wife Diane, Shelby Dan Schaller (Susan), Ted Raymond Schaller and wife Melodee, Russell David Schaller and wife Lindsay, Verna Raynel Ward and husband Craig, and Carl Dempsey Schaller and wife Christy; 23 grandchildren and many great-grandchildren.
Visitation will be on Friday, May 20, 2016 from 5:00 to 8:00 p.m. and funeral service on Saturday, May 21, 2016 at 10:00 a.m. at Grand View Funeral Home, 8501 Spencer Highway, Pasadena, Texas.
