Visitation will be held at Osborn Funeral Home on Sunday, February 5, 2006 from 5 until 7 p.m. Funeral services will begin at 10 a.m. on Monday, February 6th in the chapel of Osborn Funeral Home with Rev. Mark Martin officiating. Interment will follow at Forest Park Cemetery.
Harry Walker Adair was born in Anniston, Alabama to Franklin Everett Adair and Minnie One Kennedy Adair. He had four brothers, four sisters, two step-brothers and two step-sisters, and his brother, William G. Adair, is his only surviving sibling. His wife, Dorothy Allen Adair, passed away in October of 2002.
He is survived by his children, John F Adair, Jane Adair Gookin and Frank A. Adair; three grandchildren, John P. Roper, Jennifer Adair and Amy Adair.
His siblings nicknamed him Jim and often depended on him for advice. He loved fishing and watching football. In Oklahoma City in May of 1942, he enlisted in the Army Air Corps and was assigned to the Eighth Air Force, Direction Finding Unit in England as a radio operator aiding a B17 Bombing Group. There he met his wife Dorothy, who was a radio operator for the RAF. They settled in Shreveport after the war. He started his own business and became a successful realtor and builder. He was a past president of the Shreveport/Bossier Board of Realtors. He was a member of the American Legion, Masonic Lodge and Shriners. He is known by his friends and family for his fellowship, salesmanship, faithfulness, patriotism and loyalty.
The family requests that memorials be made in lieu of flowers to the Methodist Children's Home, P.O. Box 929, Ruston, LA 71273-0929.
