Reichenstein, an assistant county clerk, was awaiting the arrival of President William Howard Taft, at the Fairgrounds in Dallas when he was run through with a bayonet wielded by a National Guardsman, J.D. Manley. Apparently, he had wanted to cross the line that the guardsman was watching, in order to catch a ride to the city. Hot words erupted and he was killed. Manley arrested. Photo is of the family monument.
