On July 11, 1780, she warned her brother John McClure, Patriot militia captain, of the presence of Tory Capt. Christian Huck and his militia. The result was Battle of Williamson's Plantation or the Battle of Huck's Defeat, a key Whig victory in the Southern Campaign of the American Revolution. She married Samuel Lowry
