Virginia Sherrell Stansell Clifton passed away, Thursday, June 22, 2017 at Golden Living Center - Briarwood in Tucker, GA. Born in Jackson, GA on September 12, 1923 she was one of twelve children of the late Joe Sherrell and Emma Mae Price Sherrell. Virginia married Arnold “Doc” Stansell and out of this union she had one son Charlie and two daughters Sandra and Gail. At the age of 74 she retired from Wellington Puritan Mills after 40 years of service. Over the years she worked as a spinner, weaver and packager. After the death of Doc, she married Johnnie Clifton in 1977 and they made their home in Greensboro. All of her life she had the sweetest personality and thoroughly enjoyed her family and helping others. She loved Shopping, traveling and reading. As long as health permitted she attended Walker United Methodist Church.

Virginia was preceded in death by her first husband, Arnold Stansell in 1974; her second husband, Johnnie Clifton in 2004; and all of her siblings, Devenna Sherrell, Joe Sherrell, Herman Sherrell, Mary Sherrell Ross, Ann Lynch, Lena Bell Wofford, Cam Sherrell, Don Sherrell, Wayne Sherrell and 2 infants who died at birth. She is survived by her son, Charlie Stansell (JoAnn) of Loganville, GA; daughters, Gail Turner (Charles) of Washington, GA and Sandra Barnes (Milton) of Decatur, GA; six grandchildren; nine great grandchildren; and four great, great grandchildren.

A Funeral Service will be held Sunday, June 25, 2017 at 2:00 p.m. at McCommons Chapel. Interment will follow at Walker United Methodist Church Cemetery, 2730 Walker Church Road, Greensboro, GA 30642. Serving as pallbearers are Grandsons: Tim, Craig, Jacob, John Michael and Timothy. The family will receive friends from 1:00 p.m. to 2:00 p.m. Sunday at McCommons Funeral Home in Greensboro.
