Services for Phillip Harold Wood, 52, of Ada are 10:00 a.m. Tuesday at the First Baptist Church in Ada, Revs. Earl Hood and Mickey Keith will officiate. Burial will follow at Swan Hill Cemetery. The family will receive friends from 6:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m. Monday at Criswell Funeral Home.
Mr. Wood passed away Friday, June 23, 2017 at a Shawnee hospital. He was born February 11, 1965 in Ada to William and Ruby Dickerson Wood. He attended grade school at Stratford and graduated from Roff High School. He attended East Central Univeristy.
He married Genise Yother March 25, 2016. Phillip was a police officer for the Ada Police Department where he served as the D.A.R.E. Officer, retiring after 23 years of service. He later was a Paramedic at Mercy Hospital in Ada. Mr. Wood was a member of the Life Community Church, the Ada Kiwanis Club, and the Fraternal Order of Police.
Survivors include his wife, Genise, of the home; two sons, Logan Wood of Ada and Taylor Wood and wife Tarna of Coalgate; a daughter, Alyssia Tomlinson and her husband Dwayne of Coalgate; his grandchildren, Journey Wood, Ana, Tallica, J. W., and Rosie Wood and Torstin Tomlinson; his mother, Ruby Lee and her husband Terry of Ada; sister, Nelda Burrow and husband Jay of Roff; one brother, Billy Wood and wife Angela of Ada; step-brothers, Dwayne Lee and wife Jodi of Sasakwa and Michael Lee and wife Jennifer of Georgia; a step-sister, Terri Diane Raines and husband Tim of Ada; and several nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his father, William Wood; and a brother, James Wood.
Bearers will be Danny Dickerson, Ronnie McCurdy, Jeff Sibble, Christopher Wood, Logan Wood, Taylor Wood, Aaron Gray, Dennis Whitaker and David “Bud” Morriss. Honorary bearers will be the Mercy EMS, Ada Police Officers, the Ada Fire Department, and the Oklahoma D. A. R. E. Officers.
