Edward Ray Cochran age 85 of Beckley, WV passed away at Hilltop Nursing Home on Thursday June 22, 2017 after a long illness.

Born on December 28, 1931 at Metalton, he was the son of the late Clarence Edward Cochran and Edna Alice McCormick/Cooper Cochran.

Mr. Cochran was a retired coal miner, and a member of the UMWA. He was a member of Sprague Freewill Baptist Church, and was a US Army Veteran during the Korean Conflict.

When health permitted, Mr. Cochran enjoyed fishing in his spare time.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by an infant son Bobby, by brothers, George W., Archie V., Clarence G., and Alfred E.Cochran, and by sisters Virgie E. Terry, Annie Jane Cochran.

Those survivors left to cherish his memory include his wife of nearly 66 years, Mary Crews Cochran; sons, Michael Cochran and his wife Pat of Beckley, and Ricky Cochran and his wife Trina of Atlanta, Georgia; a brother, Frank S. Cochran of Mabscott; two sisters, Mary Lou Daniel and husband Kelly of Piney View, and Wanda L. Mitchell of Illinois; seven grandchildren and ten great grandchildren also survive.

Funeral services will be conducted at Rose and Quesenberry Peace Chapel in Beckley at noon on Monday June 26, 2017 with Rev. Fred Lovell officiating.

Burial will follow at Sunset Memorial Park in Beckley.

Friends may visit with the family from 10 AM until service time on Monday at the funeral home.

Pallbearers will be family members and friends.
