July 27, 1961 - June 22, 2017

Jeffery Todd Stewart, age 55, of Sharkey Road, Morehead, was born July 27, 1961, in Ashland and passed away Thursday, June 22, 2017, at the University of Louisville Hospital from complications following an extended battle with cancer.

Todd is survived by his wife of 32 years, Janet Hicks Stewart, whom he wed July 7, 1984, and their son, Jeffery Tyler Stewart of Winchester; his father and stepmother, Bob Stewart and Marjorie Pelphrey Stewart of Paintsville; one brother, Kerry Stewart of Georgetown; and one sister, Bonny Mangold of Orlando, Florida. He also leaves behind extended relatives, including the Hicks family, and many friends, including the “old coots.”

He was preceded in death by his mother, Janice Wheeler Phillips.

Todd received a B.S. Degree from Morehead State University and retired as a geologist with Stantec in Lexington after 25 years. An avid outdoorsman, he especially enjoyed hunting, 4-wheeling, and gardening. He was a coach for the local 4-H Shooting Sports for more than ten years and was a state instructor as well. Other interests included tailgating at football games, volunteering as a driver for the Morehead State Rifle Team, woodworking, and carpentry.

Funeral services will be conducted 2 p.m. Sunday, June 25, 2017, at Northcutt & Son Home for Funerals Memorial Chapel with Pastor Richard Engle officiating. Burial will follow at the Caudill Cemetery on Sharkey Road in Morehead.

Pallbearers: Adam Hicks, Dan Prater, Tony Wheeler, Dewayne Gregory, James Vansant, Bob Lawrence, and Charles Curtis.

Visitation will be after 5 p.m. Saturday, June 24, 2017, at Northcutt & Son Home for Funerals in Morehead.

In lieu of flowers, contributions in his memory are suggested to the Rowan County 4-H Shooting Sports, 600 West Main Street, Morehead, KY 40351 or St. Claire Regional Medical Center Oncology Department, 222 Medical Circle, Morehead, KY 40351
