A memorial celebrating the life of Jessie James, 93, will be held on Saturday, June 24, 2017 at 10:00 a.m. at Good Samaritan Funeral Home, 2200 Laurel Street, Shreveport, LA. Rev. Joe Fisher, officiating. Jessie was born on June 24, 1923 in Longwood, Louisiana to the union of Clinton and Pearl James. He transcended to his heavenly home on April 24, 2017 after a brief illness. He was cremated shortly after his death as he requested. Interment of his cremains will follow the Memorial at Carver Memorial Cemetery, 498 Kennie Road, Shreveport, LA. Jessie was preceded in death by his parents, his loving wife Doris Roach James, and his siblings: Addie, Della, Mary, Ulyces, Melvin, Ceola (“Red”), Smith (“Shorty”), and Arthur (“Nap”). He is survived by his nieces, nephews, stepdaughter, Cynthia M. Carter, and other family members and friends who loved him and will miss him deeply. Special thanks to Ms. Nettie Brown, Mr. Charles Terrell, Rev. Joe Fisher, his neighbors on Lakeshore Drive, and his “family of friends” at “The Cove”. Happy Birthday Uncle Bud, we will miss you!!
