Veteran US Army - Korean War.

Member of American Legion Post 85, UAW Local 1037, Licking County Veteran Alliance

Retired from Rockwell International Meritor.

Survived by his wife of 36 years Theola (Jones) Johnson Cole; two brothers; two sisters; two daughters; a son and daughter-in-law; a son-in-law; two stepdaughters; two stepsons; 12 grandchildren; 13 great-grandchildren; and his devoted pets Precious and Jake.

The family would like to express their appreciation to the staff of Hospice of Central Ohio and their compassionate care for Ernie during his illness and final hours at home.

Funeral services Tuesday May 23, 2017 at 1:00 p.m. at Shiloh Missionary Baptist Church, 383 Washington Street, Newark with Rev. Mario Williams officiating. Burial in Cedar Hill Cemetery with military honors provided by the Licking County Veterans Alliance.

A visitation will be observed from 11:00 a.m. till 1:00 p.m. at the church.
