Viola Ann Koerperich, age 89, passed away on Monday, November 21, 2016, after a hard fought battle with kidney disease. She passed away peacefully surrounded by her loving family at Hillcrest Nursing Home. Viola was born May 2, 1927 in Park, Kansas to Seraphine and Anna Feldt Depperschmidt.

She lived at Park, Kansas until she was two years old and then moved to Sequin, Kansas where she grew up. She graduated from Hoxie High School and went on to attend Hays State University and got a teaching certificate and taught at a country school near Selden. She boarded at the Nick and Cecelia Koerperich family home while teaching in the area.

In 1945 she met the love of her life, Leo, when he returned to his family home from serving in the US Army during WWII. On October 8, 1946 she married Leo at the Sacred Heart Catholic Church in Selden. To this union eleven children were born, all of whom survive her. She and Leo farmed in the Selden and Jennings Kansas area until moving to Nebraska in 1962. She and Leo brought up their children in the Lords way. She was a member of St. Patrick Catholic Church and Altar Society.

Surviving are her children, Paulette (Pete) Dillan of Lamar, Marlene (Marvin) Witte of Hendley, Marilyn (James) Sutton of McCook, Phillip (Jackie) Koerperich of Sioux Falls, SD, Dwayne (Gaile) Koerperich of Houma, LA, Edwin Koerperich of Brentwood, CA, Elaine (Roy) Leibbrandt, of Chadron, Eileen (Larry) Thompson of Curtis, Rose (Rolland) Holliday of Tecumseh, KS, Louise (Jerry) Colson of Cambridge, Alan (Kris) Koerperich of Lincoln. She also leaves 22 grandchildren, fifty-six great grandchildren, 1 great-great grandchild.

Preceding her in death were her husband Leo in 1977; her parents, Seraphine and Anna; a sister Bernita Weber; a brother Al J; three infant brothers, John, Melvin, and Elmer; grandson, Geoffery Dillan; and daughter-in-law Julie Koerperich.

Visitation will be Sunday, November 27, 2016, 3:00 p.m. until time of Rosary which will be recited at 7:00 p.m. at Herrmann Jones Funeral Chapel. Mass of Christian Burial will be Monday, November 28, 2016, 10:00 a.m. at St. Patrick's Catholic Church in McCook, NE with Father Gary Brethour as Celebrant. Burial will be at 1:30 p.m. at the Cambridge Cemetery, Cambridge, NE. Herrmann Jones Funeral Chapel of McCook is in charge of the arrangements.

Memorials may be given in her name to Hillcrest Nursing Home Foundation Fund (Chapel Fund) or Community Hospital Health Foundation (Hospice).
