Virgil W. White, 63, celebration of life to be held by the family on July 9, 2017 from 4:00 pm to 10:00 pm at Manhattan Pavilion in Ellis Park, Cedar Rapids, Iowa.

He is survived by his wife: Patricia White, sons: Matthew, Andrew (Kathrin), and James, grandchildren: Amillia, Sophia, and Gabriel, sisters: Laurie Wasek and Luecinda Gibson.

He was preceded in death by his father: Charles White, his mother: Betty Jean Runer, his sister: Sandra Passig.

Virgil was born on April 7, 1954 in Cedar Rapids, grew up in Kansas City, Kansas, He was a member of the Honor Society, football and ROTC. He attended West Point Military Academy, Graduated from Emporia State University, also attended Mount Mercy, Kirkwood College, and University of Iowa. He obtained 2 BAs in Theology & Psychology.

Virgil married Patricia Kohl in Cedar Rapids, Iowa on May 23, 1981.

He worked most of his life as a youth counselor & swim instructor. Working with children was his passion.

He loved art, camping and music. He played his viola in orchestras, as well as played guitar, keyboard, and flute. Virgil also wrote songs and recorded a CD.
