Don A. Wright 58, of the Poppy Hill Community of Gray's Hill, son of Daisy Simmons Wright and the late Prince Wright, father of Photinia Wright and Ricky Wright, died Wednesday, June 14, 2017 at his residence.
Funeral services for Mr. Wright will be held at 11:00 am, Wednesday, June 21, 2017, at the Second Gray's Hill Baptist Church, Seabrook. Burial will follow in the Beaufort Memorial Gardens.
Don Albert Wright, was born September 15, 1958, in Beaufort County, South Carolina, the son of Daisy Simmons Wright and the late Prince Wright. He departed this life on Wednesday, June 14, 2017. Don attended the local public schools and was a 1977 graduate of Battery Creek High School. He started his working career in landscaping and irrigation, working with private companies for several years before starting his own business, Wright & Son Landscaping & Irrigation. “Gator”, as he was fondly called by those that knew him, was a family-oriented, generous, protective, loving and humorous father, brother, uncle & son. He was actively involved in his “Poppy Hill” community. He formed a community softball team that become known as the Poppy Hill Pirates and became known as “Coach Gator”. He gave his life to Christ at an early age, was baptized and became a member of Rose Hill Baptist Church, where he served as an usher. He later became a member of Second Gray’s Hill Baptist Church. Those left to cherish his fond memories include his lovely mother Daisy Wright; three children Rique Wright of Houston, TX; Photinia Wright of Gray’s Hill, SC and Dontarius Wright of Stuart Point, SC; close nephew and caretaker Caesar Wright, Jr of Poppy Hill, SC; two grandchildren: Cayden L. Allen of Gray’s Hill, SC, and Marcelia D. Pizarro of Stuart Point, SC; two brothers, Prince Smalls of Pooler, GA and Caesar Wright of Poppy Hill, SC; one devoted and loving sister, Princetta (Ricky) Witter of Burton, SC; and his favorite cousin, Byrse Webb of Poppy Hill, SC; a host of aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews, other cousins, other relatives and friends to include a close friend Lemuel Wiggins and special cousins, Mr. and Mrs. Robert Burrell of Poppy Hill, SC.
